In September 1965, Dr. and Mrs. Maggard established Broadway Christian School, marking the beginning of their educational endeavors in Virginia. Initially, the institution exclusively provided kindergarten classes, a significant offering at the time. Consequently, the classes were consistently at full capacity, and many students commenced their educational journey at Broadway Christian School. By 1971, the school had expanded its classes to include all grades up to the eighth level, and the subsequent year, it further extended its offerings to encompass grades through twelfth. Over the course of the past sixty years, Broadway Christian School has experienced fluctuations in enrollment, with periods of both high and low student numbers. Despite these variations, the school has remained steadfast in its mission to provide a comprehensive education that encompasses both academic and spiritual development. Dr. Maggard served as the school's administrator, while both he and Mrs. Maggard were actively involved in teaching and fulfilling various roles within the institution until they were no longer able to contribute. The legacy of Dr. and Mrs. Maggard endures as Broadway Christian School continues to pursue its mission of education students both academically and spiritually, guided by the principle of "For the glory of the Lord and the children's sake." As a ministry of Broadway Baptist Church, the school is dedicated to growth for the sake of the Kingdom of God, committed to delivering education in the most biblically grounded, academically rigorous, and conducive environments possible.
